Through this holistic care, significant mentoring relationships, and the transforming love of Jesus, children will become fully equipped to fulfill God’s wonderful purpose for their lives. New Song’s educational campus community is located in beautiful Brown County,
Indiana where children live in a family-like, Christian environment, to the glory of God.
New Song’s vision is to bring holistic growth and transformation into the lives of children, to the glory of God. We are very thankful for the support of hundreds of volunteers and financial contributors who have helped us create an incredible, life-changing opportunity for vulnerable children. Key Characteristics of New Song are: A beautiful campus setting, spacious homes. highly personalized care, an exceptional education, loving houseparents, teachers, and administrators , a caring Christian community offering spiritual growth and biblical guidance, social and emotional support, outdoor recreational opportunities, and free to low-income parents.
New Song’s on-site educational program, the New Song Leadership Academy, has been created utilizing advice and ideas from dozens of Indiana educators. Our strategy with students is to provide them with highly individualized instruction led by licensed teachers who are uniquely gifted and trained to work with students who have emotional and educational deficits.
Living on the New Song campus helps kids develop a meaningful sense of belonging and also instills in them the importance of personal responsibility that comes from being an important member of a broader campus community. Recreational opportunities on campus include organized activities, informal games, hiking on trails, team sports, participating in the arts and music, developing personal hobbies, therapeutic physical activities, and simply relaxing in nature. Off-campus outings such as educational field trips, church youth group outings, and cultural experiences like local plays and musical concerts are also an important part of the kids’ experience at New Song. We believe that it is extremely valuable to provide kids with a wide variety of enriching activities to meet the developmental needs of children of all ages.
Children are growing up in America confused by the lack of values they see and experience in society. At New Song, we believe one of our primary roles is to teach our students godly character and principles. Through our Christian Discipleship Program, students learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ which transforms lives.
Houseparents at New Song are committed Christ followers who are led by the Lord to care for vulnerable boys and girls. The Houseparenting role is a full-time residential position, where married husband and wife couples provide a safe, loving home to vulnerable children and live out their Christian values among them, leading lifestyles that model positive, godly character and a daily pursuit of Jesus. Houseparent couples must possess certain personal characteristics unique to this position that will help lead them to successfully fulfilling this extremely important calling.
Houseparents are a part of a broader ministry team, and as such, they must be exceptional team players who have a genuine willingness to serve in areas outside of their normal houseparent roles to assist others on campus when the need arises. This includes tutoring in the classrooms, participating in community activities on campus, and welcoming others such as supporters or those touring the campus into their home with a hospitable, open-door
mentality. Houseparents also assist with the ministry’s marketing, communications, and fundraising efforts in various ways.
