Located in one of the fastest growing areas in the nation, River Oaks Church sits at the western edge of St. Charles County in Foristell, Missouri, on over 5 acres. River Oaks Church is an elder led church and offers the congregation contemporary worship over two services each Sunday, active small groups, strong women’s and men’s ministries, a fantastic children’s program, and a devoted group of youth.
In addition to the land we own, the River Oaks Church facilities include two buildings – the main building with a sanctuary, kitchen, large foyer, and classrooms; and the discipleship building, which houses offices, two classrooms, and our youth area. The facility also includes a large covered patio, outdoor basketball courts, an outdoor playground, and a great deal of ground for future expansion. The Family Pastor position is one of shared oversight of the facility and its varied uses for outreach and fellowship.

River Oaks Church is seeking a full-time experienced Family Pastor to assist the senior pastor in leading a Godly and devoted congregation. The Family Pastor needs to possess a heart to create disciples, a deep grounding in Biblical Truth, an ability to oversee and lead various programs, a passion for evangelism, and most importantly, the characteristics outlined in Titus 1: 6-9 and 1 Timothy 3: 1-7.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a concentration in Biblical Studies, Theology, Ministry, Pastoral Leadership, Christian Education, or a closely related field strongly preferred. A Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Arts in Theology, Master of Arts in Ministry, or other graduate theological degree is preferred but not required for candidates who demonstrate exceptional ministry effectiveness and biblical competency. Formal theological education should be complemented by a lifelong commitment to biblical study, personal spiritual growth, and leadership development

The ideal Family Pastor will demonstrate spiritual maturity and meet the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership as outlined in Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7. He will possess an authentic and growing relationship with Jesus Christ that is evident in both his personal life and public ministry.
He should be an exceptional communicator with the ability to preach God’s Word with biblical accuracy, theological depth, clarity, conviction, and relevance. He must also be an engaging teacher who can effectively communicate with children, students, adults, volunteers, and leaders in both large and small group settings.
The successful candidate will be a gifted disciple-maker who intentionally develops others toward spiritual maturity. He will have a passion for reaching the lost, equipping believers, and helping families cultivate Christ-centered homes. He should demonstrate a shepherd’s heart that balances compassion, truth, accountability, and grace.
Strong leadership and organizational abilities are essential. The Family Pastor must be capable of establishing vision, building healthy ministry systems, recruiting and mentoring volunteers, delegating responsibilities appropriately, and overseeing multiple ministry areas simultaneously. He should possess sound judgment, effective decision-making skills, and the ability to navigate complex ministry situations with wisdom and humility.
The ideal candidate will be highly relational, approachable, and emotionally intelligent. He should build trust quickly, cultivate healthy relationships across generations, and collaborate effectively with the Senior Pastor, elders, staff, volunteers, and congregation. He must be a servant leader who values teamwork over personal recognition.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible pastoral ministry experience, preferably within a growing evangelical church. Previous experience leading family ministries, including children’s, youth, parents, and small group ministries, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate success in developing volunteers, building ministry teams, equipping leaders, and creating systems that foster discipleship across multiple generations.
Experience preaching in both stand-alone messages and sermon series before a congregation is essential, along with demonstrated competency in biblical exposition and practical application. The ideal candidate will also possess experience providing pastoral care, counseling, visitation, and shepherding individuals and families through various seasons of life.
Candidates should have experience collaborating within a multi-staff ministry environment, working alongside senior leadership, elders, and ministry volunteers. Experience overseeing church-wide events, coordinating ministry calendars, managing budgets, and maintaining ministry operations is beneficial. Familiarity with community outreach, local and global missions, and evangelistic initiatives is also preferred.
