How would you describe your style of leadership, and how do you feel your style would work within the structure of River Oaks Church? Currently, ROC has a senior pastor, a part-time bi-vocational pastor, and a pastor over the music ministry and is searching for a Family Pastor to fill gaps in ministry, to learn from and be mentored by our senior pastor, and to possibly move into higher levels of leadership. Additionally, the church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and is an Elder (senior pastor and lay leaders) led church with a Deacon ministry that serves the needs of the congregation.

In a January 03, 2008 radio message, Pastor Michael Youssef cited the following statistics from George Marsden: ● 85% of students at America’s largest Evangelical Seminary do not believe in the inerrancy of Scripture. ● 74% of the Clergy in America no longer believe in the inerrancy of Scripture. Additionally, theologian Dr. Stephen T. Davis wrote in 1977 that “The Bible is inerrant if and only if it makes no false or misleading statements on any topic whatsoever. The Bible is infallible if and only if it makes no false or misleading statements on any matter of faith and practice." - What are your beliefs about the inerrancy of scripture, and what are your personal thoughts on both Marsden’s statistics and Davis’s statement on the issue? What implications does the debate about the inerrancy of scripture have on River Oaks Church and other churches throughout the world?
*
What have you learned about God in the last year, and how have you incorporated this knowledge into your ministry? Also, tell us a little about your personal study time with God and what that looks like daily.
*
Among prominent Christian authors, Bible teachers, evangelists, and/or scholars (both past and present), which have had the biggest impact on your ministry? Explain this impact.
*
River Oaks Church believes strongly in mission work, both among our congregation and throughout the world. - What experience have you had in the mission field, and how have your beliefs and/or experiences prepared you to lead River Oaks in this area?

Please read the passages from C.S. Lewis and John Calvin below and then answer the question that follows. “God created things which had free will. That means creatures which can go wrong or right. Some people think they can imagine a creature which was free but had no possibility of going wrong, but I can't. If a thing is free to be good it's also free to be bad. And free will is what has made evil possible. Why, then, did God give them free will? Because free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having. A world of automata -of creatures that worked like machines- would hardly be worth creating. The happiness which God designs for His higher creatures is the happiness of being freely, voluntarily united to Him and to each other in an ecstasy of love and delight compared with which the most rapturous love between a man and a woman on this earth is mere milk and water. And for that they've got to be free.” – C.S. Lewis “God preordained, for his own glory and the display of His attributes of mercy and justice, a part of the human race, without any merit of their own, to eternal salvation, and another part, in just punishment of their sin, to eternal damnation.” – John Calvin - Briefly explain how these two divergent ideas found in scripture impact your ministry.

In a meta-analysis of data collected from The Fuller Institute, George Barna, Lifeway, Schaeffer Institute of Leadership Development, and Christianity Today, the organization Pastoral Care, Inc. reports that 80% of pastors suggest their occupation has negatively affected their families, and 84% of pastor spouses have felt discouraged about the role (https://www.pastoralcareinc.com/statistics/). - Please explain how you will combat this, as well as other possible problems, as both the leader of your family and River Oaks Church. What would you need from River Oaks Church in order to ensure that your family does not become one of these alarming statistical points?
