About the Position

Primarily, the Vice Principal/Academic Dean works alongside the Head of School to provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of all organizational and educational functions at Umpqua Valley Christian School. This role focuses on leading and monitoring school academic performance in addition to supporting the Head of School with all other operational functions. The Vice Principal is a biblically equipped and highly motivated educational leader with the ability to build relationships, solve problems and inspire continual individual and institutional growth toward the Mission and Core Values of UVCS.

Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 annually

Job Duties

  • Responsible for ensuring sound curriculum development, vertical articulation, and staff development
  • Manges the daily academic operations of the school day such as scheduling, field trips, and technology
  • Oversees the accreditation process and maintain documentation for academic standards
  • Collaborates with teams of teachers to support lesson planning and to facilitate the use of at-risk student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions
  • Supports staff in data collection and analysis to determine trends and targeted areas for improvement
  • Oversees and coordinates the Student Information Systems including services provided through the SIS such as grading, scheduling, generating reports, and managing communications to the community
  • Oversee and build our resources and processes to support families as collaborators in our mission
  • Assists with planning, goal setting, and monitoring of strategic interventions
  • Supports and participates in before and after school success programs
  • Orients and mentors new teachers in regard to the use of best practices and UVC policies
  • Assists in developing the master schedule
  • Provides professional development in the effective use of adopted textbooks, software and other materials
  • Managers performance evaluations and provides feedback on instruction to teachers
  • Assists administrators and teachers in planning, implementing, and assessing staff development programs
  • Assists administrators and teachers in analyzing benchmark and state testing
  • Assists in identifying at risk students and coordinates early intervention strategies
  • Arranges for flexible grouping and pullout programs for at risk students
  • Performs other curriculum and instruction duties as assigned by the Head of School

  • Hold a master’s degree in education or related field of study.
  • Possess a valid principal certification required.
  • Possess 5+ years of teaching experience.
  • Possess 2+ years of education leadership experience.
  • Be ACSI certified or ability to become certified.
  • Possess a Biblical understanding of education and how that applies to Christian schools.
  • Have a working knowledge of classroom management, best practices, and diverse learning styles and teaching methods.
  • Possess the ability to work under the supervision of the Head of School.
  • Possess strong communication, both oral and in written, skills are required.
  • Possess interpersonal skills required to establish and maintain working relationships with staff, students, parents and community.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Have a clear testimony of his/her acceptance of Jesus Christ as personal Savior.
  • Be a member in good standing of a local evangelical church.
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude and speech toward others.
  • Avoid promoting controversial doctrine with students, parents or staff.
  • State agreement with the school’s mission statement.
  • Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, love for children, courtesy, teach-ability, flexibility, integrity, gratefulness, kindness, perseverance and punctuality both in and out of the competitive arena.
  • Respectfully submit to proper authorities. This includes mutual Biblical submission to fellow administrators and staff and treating all students with respect.
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model in cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy. These standards shall be upheld or applied when attending or representing any school function.
  • Instruct and guide students in such a way that will lead to positive values, acceptable behavior, and self-discipline with a Christian emphasis
