Moses Lake Christian Academy (MLCA) is a private non-denominational Christian school serving students from pre-school through 12th grade. MLCA is dedicated to providing a high-quality education rooted in Christian values. We exist to partner with parents who seek to graduate young men and women who glorify Christ, shape culture, and shine the light of God’s truth in every endeavor of life.  MLCA seeks to develop character, Integrity, and maturity, which is the development of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. About the Position:

Moses Lake Christian Academy is seeking a born-again Christian who is a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Head of School. The Head of School will play a crucial role in shaping this educational experience, fostering character development, promoting Biblically-inspired critical thinking skills, and nurturing a love for Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership to sustain and enhance the school’s reputation for academic excellence, servant leadership, community service, and embrace our goal of graduating young men and women of character.

Salary: $90,000-$120,000 annually

Job Duties

Strategic Leadership:

  • Assist with and execute the strategic vision to advance the school’s mission and goals.
  • Provide leadership in shaping the future direction of the institution.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a curriculum that aligns with the academy’s mission and values.
  • Provide strategic direction to faculty and staff to ensure academic excellence and spiritual growth.

Reporting and Accountability:

  • Report to the Board of Directors regularly on the school’s performance and key initiatives.
  • The Director will be subject to an annual performance review by the MLCA Board each spring.
  • Seek guidance and direction from the Board on policy matters affecting the institution.
  • Implement board policies and decisions effectively.
  • Ensure the Academy complies with state and national requirements including but not limited to: submission of the Private School Fact Sheet, enrollment Report, Administrative &Instructional Staff Report, and Private School Annual Approval Form, Federal and State tax liabilities.
  • Delegate responsibilities to subordinate staff positions as needed, ensuring effective teamwork and collaboration.

Personnel Management:

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-caliber faculty and staff.
  • Provide leadership and support to ensure a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Approve all classroom observation plans for performance feedback and ensure annual performance reviews are conducted for each faculty and staff members.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging faculty and staff to pursue professional development opportunities.
  • Keep an up-to-date personnel file for each faculty and staff member.

Admissions and Enrollment:

  • Collaborate with the admissions team to attract and enroll students who align with the school’s values and mission.
  • Implement strategies to enhance student retention and satisfaction.

Academic Excellence:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of a rigorous curriculum that aligns with the highest educational standards of academic excellence and character development.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective assessment and evaluation systems to monitor student progress.
  • Analyze academic data to identify trends and areas for improvement, implementing strategies to address academic challenges.
  • Conduct regular reviews of instructional materials, assessment tools, and teaching methodologies to uphold quality in education.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, other administrators, and parents to support student achievement and well-being.
  • Work with and provide information to the Board’s advisory committee.

Spiritual Formation:

  • Cultivate an environment where students grow spiritually, recognizing the Scriptures as the ultimate guide.
  • Ensure the integration of Christian principles and values across all aspects of the curriculum.

Good Order and Discipline:

  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures that ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Address disciplinary matters with fairness, consistency, and a focus on restorative practices.

Fundraising and Development:

  • Collaborate with the Fundraising & Marketing Committee to bolster fundraising activities.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, and community partners to enhance financial resources.
  • Act as the “Face of the Institution” as an ambassador for MLCA to the public and school community

Financial Management:

  • Manage the school’s finances effectively, working closely with the finance team and the Board of Directors to support the school’s mission.
  • Prepare and submit the annual budget to the Board for approval early in the second semester (Jan. 15th draft due, March 1st final draft due)
  • Keep the Academy within Budget and keep the Board appraised of any income or expenses that are not with in the budget exceeding $2000 and obtain Board approval for any capital expense exceeding $5000.

Community Engagement:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the broader community.
  • Act as a visible and approachable leader, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration.
  • Foster a positive school culture that values integrity, respect, and a love for learning.

Extracurricular Programs:

  • Provide leadership for the development and execution of extracurricular activities that complement the academic curriculum.
  • Support and promote a diverse range of programs, including sports, arts, music, language, and other enrichment activities.
  • Ensure that the co-curricular and extra-curricular programs appropriately fit in with the overall Academy program, and accomplish the objectives set forth by the Board.

Facilities and Operations:

  • Oversee the maintenance and improvement of school facilities to create a conducive learning environment.
  • Oversee proper use and regular maintenance of the buildings and vehicles. Ensure replacement or upgrade plans are maintained.
  • Ensure efficient and effective operational processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MLCA requires its employees to be born-again Christians, living their lives as Christian role models.
  • Master’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in educational leadership, preferably in a private school setting.
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to Christian values and principles.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and financial resources.
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum development and academic excellence, including the ability to properly evaluate teachers and their teaching methods
  • Visionary leadership with a commitment to educational excellence and character development combined with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
