About the Position:

Magnum is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Business Development Director to oversee the marketing and lead generation initiatives with the ultimate goal of increasing sales and profit for Magnum. The Business Development Director is responsible for connecting with the existing customer base as well as developing new opportunities. To do so, this role will need to know the intricacies of each Magnum division to appropriately represent and market products and services. This role will also oversee all digital and print marketing efforts and rely on data analysis to develop new and forward-thinking campaigns. 

Hours: Full-Time

Location: San Jose, CA

Compensation: $85,000 – $100,000 plus commission

Job Duties

  • To learn about the various Magnum Divisions, products, personnel, and capabilities in order to present Magnum to the public appropriately and completely.
  • To develop an ability to intelligently converse about Drywall, Ceilings, Painting, Wallcovering, Specialties, Plaster & Wood framing, to be able to contribute intelligently to internal marketing strategy discussions as well as to be able to meet the challenges of customer discussions.
  • To represent Magnum and our products fully to architects, general contractors, facility managers, building owners, and others with the goal of generating an ultimate increase in sales for all Magnum Divisions.
  • To become well-acquainted with Magnum’s existing customer base in terms of the companies themselves, and in terms of the individuals within companies in order to sort out potential growth prospects as well as to vet out prospects to avoid; to work with all divisions and sales personnel to
    develop successful bids and strategies to attract new customers as well as to keep and expand current customers.
  • To develop a customer database software capable of tracking our customers, their projects, their interests, and the use of this data base for things such as events, holiday gifts, trips, and other interactions beneficial to Magnum.
  • To analyze current sales numbers in comparison to historic in order to determine trends, strategies, recovery tactics, and corrections as necessary.
  • To research competitors to stay current with similar products and services in our market.
  • To learn how to use any and/or all the current technologies in use at Magnum, insofar as they could help your daily focus and job duties directly, or indirectly by your knowledge of them in conversations with customers.
  • To oversee Magnum’s social media, website(s), marketing brochures and image, outsourcing the development of these as appropriate but taking ownership on the final appearance, messaging, and outcomes as it affects our customers and the public.
  • To oversee the use of the event calendar, striving to match events to the appropriate customer base as well as to Magnum personnel connecting with that customer base, in order to create new and better genuine relationships and synergy (and ultimately the resulting higher sales and profits) for Magnum.
  • To learn the Company Core Purpose and Core Values and to begin integrating these into your mindset as a basis for everything you do, as well as in representing these as selling points in marketing Magnum.
  • To integrate with Magnum’s internal collaborative culture and to further that collaboration in marketing efforts which will leverage and include multi-division conversations, bidding, and contracts.
  • To become acquainted with our Company Handbook, Work-from-Home policies, Event Protocol Guidelines, and Leadership Team in order to work within company parameters while contributing ideas and options to further Magnum’s growth and values, collaborating with Leadership to make high-level decisions regarding the budget and direction of the company.
  • To develop marketing strategies for new products or services that comply with current company standards and future growth decisions.
  • To attend and participate in all requested company-related meetings (Metronome Meetings, Huddles, Goals Meetings, Reviews, etc.) and all Company functions (Foreman Meetings, Magnum U. Meetings, group & company-wide activities, lunches, entertainment events, etc.).
  • Provide a professional and business-like appearance; conduct in all company-related activities in accordance with Magnum’s ‘Event Protocol Guidelines’.
  • To fulfil set increases in sales and profits for Magnum (parameters set by ownership).

Minimum Qualifications

Skill Expectations

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license, U.S. citizenship, current clear DMV report, proof-of-insurance (if driving own vehicle), and clear periodic drug tests when requested.
  • If driving own vehicle, vehicle must be in good driving condition to fulfill work commitments.
  • Good personal hygiene, professional appearance, and conduct, all of which translates into non-offensive behavior for customers and fellow employees.
