Life Choices was founded in 1984 and offers support to men and women by providing education, support, healing, and limited medical services for sexual life choices. In 1991, the Education Program was started to educate and encourage students to make healthy lifestyle choices. For the past forty years, we have promoted avoidance of health risk behaviors to adolescents including drug, alcohol, tobacco and pornography use and premarital sexual activity. We believe prevention is key!

Over the years, Life Choices has grown in staff, programs, volunteers, community support, and educational opportunities making it one of the largest and most established pregnancy centers along the Northern Front Range.

About the Position:

The staff nurse works alongside the Director of Nursing to provide nursing services to the clients at Life Choices. The staff nurse provides a Christ-like, safe, and confidential environment for clients. The staff nurse conducts duties in a manner that is consistent with the mission and goals of Life Choices. The nurse will demonstrate an ability to provide Christian spiritual guidance to volunteer nurses and clients. The nurse will be familiar with and abide by the Medical Clinic Policies and Procedures and Standing Orders as put forth by the Medical Director. The staff nurse will attend staff meetings as required.

Hours: 20-25 hours per week including some evenings

Hourly Rate: $33.00 per hour

Reports to: Director of Nursing

Location: Colorado – travel between Longmont and Loveland

Physical Demands: Since this role involves performing ultrasounds, there are a few physical requirements such as shoulder mobility, good vision, and the ability to stand for extended periods.

Job Duties

  • Supervises volunteer nurses at any Life Choices location in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Works alongside the Director of Nursing to provide nursing services to clients.
  • Performs nursing assessments within the scope of their practice and also limited obstetrical ultrasounds upon completion of training.
  • Responds to requests for medical records.
  • Performs and provides results of pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and vital signs.
  • Audits client folders for signatures, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Completes necessary forms and charting, including pregnancy test verification letter.
  • Provided education for clients to develop an understanding of their health condition, including physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
  • Ensures that OSHA and HIPPA guidelines are followed.
  • Attends Medical Team in-services and meetings. Stays up to date on current practice. Maintains competency in skills for the position.
  • Works with advocates and other team members to assure that clients are receiving the best medical and advocacy care possible.
  • Makes referrals to community resources as indicated. Stays up to date on community resources.
  • Able to share the gospel with clients and pray with them as appropriate.
  • Follows up with clients as directed by policies and procedures.
  • Complete advocate training.

Required Qualifications

  • Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
  • Exhibits strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and sexual purity as well as a desire to reach at-risk clients considering abortion.
  • Agrees with and willing to uphold the Statement of Principle, Statement of Faith, and policies of the Center.
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal, spiritual, and administrative skills, takes initiative, and is flexible.
  • Dependable, stable, and capable of committing to this position’s responsibilities and duties.
  • Provide proof of Hepatitis B vaccine records or sign the Hepatitis B Vaccine Declination.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods of time, able to navigate steps/stairs, some light lifting and bending required.
  • Holds a current RN license in good standing and able to practice in Colorado. Provide proof of CPR certification.
  • Has completed or is willing to obtain education, training, and documentation of competency in Limited OB Ultrasound.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year nursing experience.
  • Background in obstetrical nursing.
  • Experience performing limited obstetrical ultrasound.
  • Experience as a volunteer with Life Choices or other pregnancy center.
