Our Story:

First Choice serves women and men in unplanned pregnancies, by providing counseling, medical services and practical support.

Since 1985, First Choice Women’s Resource Centers has served over 36,000 women in unplanned pregnancies and reached over 99,000 high school students with our Real Talk sexual risk avoidance presentation. Clients are served through five strategic locations in New Jersey, receiving accurate information, select medical services, and support to help them make healthy decisions. All services are provided free of charge. We rely on the volunteer efforts, financial support and dedicated prayer of supporters.

Statement of Faith

  1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
  4. We believe that for the salvation of the lost and sinful, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential and that this salvation is received through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and not as a result of good works.
  5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and to perform good works.
  6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
  8. We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female and that Christian marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.

About the Position:

The Executive Assistant manages First Choice fundraising events, assists with donor relations and accomplishes administrative functions that serve the ministry as a whole.

Hours: Full-Time

Salary Range: $42,000-$46,000 annually

Benefits: Health insurance, vacation, and sick leave

Job Duties

Administration

  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, prepare an annual operating plan for ministry fundraising events and donor communications.
  • Report progress, effectiveness, and efficiency of fundraising events; identify problems in meeting objectives and recommend solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of computer software programs specifically designed to facilitate accurate donor information and ensure information is current, accurate, and timely.
  • Enter donors and donations in database.
  • Receipt financial and in-kind donations.
  • Ensure ministry mailings are prepared by recruiting and supervising volunteers.
  • Answer incoming client calls when other staff are unavailable and be the first contact when a donor calls.
  • Collaborate with direct mail consultants, preparing mailing list and other responsibilities.
  • Accept assignments not specifically delineated above as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Communicate significant gift information to Executive Director for personal follow-up.

Public Relations and Development

  • Represent First Choice to community groups to enhance development efforts of the ministry.
  • Speak in churches on Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to develop the ministry’s public relations and marketing efforts including, but not limited to promotional brochures, social media, and websites.

Fundraising Events
Sanctity of Human Life Sunday/Baby Bootle Boomerang, Golf Shoot-Out and Banquet

  • Manage the planning and execution of each event. 
  • Oversee scheduling of all meetings related to each event.
  • Work with Executive Director to develop strategies for timely announcements, publicity, and promotion of all events.
  • Supervise event volunteers when applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A committed Christian who has and demonstrates having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (John 3:16; Matthew 7:16&20)
  • A regular attender/member in good standing of a local, Bible-believing church. (Acts 2: 42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25)
  • Strong commitment and dedication to the sanctity of human life and sexual activity within the confines of marriage (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 139:13-16; I Cor. 6:18-20)
  • Agreement with and willingness to uphold the Statements of Faith and Principle and policies of the center.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree, or related experience equivalent.
  • Prior experience in office and computer operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Self-motivated, dependable and displaying strong follow-through with details and tasks.
  • Skilled in interpersonal communication, public speaking, trouble-shooting and problem solving.
  • Ability to organize teams and work with a variety of staff and volunteers to execute events.
  • People skills including social graces, communication, language and friendliness.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task and manage a variety of tasks.
