Solar Sales Representative

About Us:

About Ironhead Solar & Roofing

“We’re growing fast at IronHead Solar & Roofing, and we’re looking for experienced Solar Consultants who want to be part of something different.

This isn’t a churn-and-burn solar sales organization. We’re building a modern, high-performance roofing + solar company focused on long-term growth, operational excellence, and doing things the right way for customers.

We’re specifically looking for experienced solar sales professionals interested in expanding their skillset into roofing and full exterior project consulting. Our model is built around integrated Roof + Solar solutions, real operational support, and strong collaboration between Sales and Ops.

Role Overview

As an Ironhead Solar Sales Representative, you’ll sell residential and light commercial solar solutions across the Valley, Portland metro and surrounding Oregon markets. You’ll generate your own leads through canvassing, referrals, and community networking while also working opportunities that come through our existing roofing customer base — a built-in advantage most solar companies can’t offer.

This is a field-first, relationship-driven role. You’ll run in-home and on-site consultations, design proposals using our sales tools, and guide customers from first conversation through signed contracts. Production and installation are handled by our in-house team — your job is to open doors, build trust, and close.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $50,000–$60,000 depending on experience
  • Commission: Uncapped — competitive per-watt or per-deal structure (details shared in interview)
  • OTE: $125,000–$225,000+ (top performers earn more)
  • Company Vehicle
  • Medical, Dental & Vision
  • PTO + Paid Holidays
  • Ongoing sales training and product education

Key Responsibilities

  • Self-generate leads through door-to-door canvassing, referral development, community events, and local networking
  • Leverage Ironhead’s existing roofing customer base and builder/GC relationships to identify solar opportunities
  • Conduct residential and commercial site consultations; assess energy needs and present customized solar proposals
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through signed contract and project handoff
  • Maintain an active, organized pipeline with consistent follow-up at every stage
  • Collaborate with production and project coordination teams to ensure smooth customer handoffs
  • Stay current on solar incentives, utility programs, financing options, and market trends in Oregon
  • Represent Ironhead professionally at community events, home shows, and networking functions

Your First 90 Days

  • Learn Ironhead’s solar products, financing options, and proposal tools
  • Shadow installs and meet the production team — understand what you’re selling end to end
  • Begin canvassing and working warm leads from the roofing customer base
  • Run your first consultations and close your first projects
  • Establish a weekly prospecting rhythm and CRM discipline

Who Thrives Here

  • Self-starters. You don’t wait for leads to fall in your lap — you go find them.
  • Consultative, not pushy. You build trust by educating, not pressuring. That’s what earns referrals.
  • Competitive and coachable. You want to be the best in the room and you’re willing to put in the work to get there.
  • You own your numbers, your activity, and your outcomes.
  • Mission-aligned. You believe in what solar does for homeowners and communities — and that shows up in how you sell.

Why Top Performers Choose Ironhead

  • Built-in warm market — our roofing customer base is a pipeline advantage no standalone solar company can match
  • Strong roofing and solar demand
  • An established and trusted roofing brand
  • Real operational and technical support
  • In-house project management and design coordination
  • A growing commercial and residential pipeline
  • A team culture focused on accountability, professionalism, and growth

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • 3+ years of outside sales experience — solar, home improvement, or construction strongly preferred
  • Comfortable with door-to-door prospecting and self-generating pipeline
  • Strong consultative selling skills — you listen before you pitch
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage a full sales cycle independently
  • Prior solar sales experience with knowledge of NEM, utility incentives, or Oregon-specific programs
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred:

  • Experience selling to both homeowners and commercial/property management contacts
  • Familiarity with solar design tools (Aurora, OpenSolar, or similar)
  • Existing network in Oregon residential or commercial real estate, roofing, or construction
