About Us:
When the Presbyterians established a church in Clewiston, in 1925, it was known simply as Community Church. There were hardly any buildings in town, and ours was the only church.
Originally, Community Church met on Francisco St, in a wood frame school building hastily constructed after a storm washed the original one-room school house away in 1926. When a new brick school building was erected in 1928, the church purchased the old wood-frame school house, and moved it to our current site on Royal Palm Ave. The present church building was constructed in 1950. That’s also when “Presbyterian” was added to the church’s name.
Average worship attendance: ~27 on Sundays.
Worship style: Traditional with both hymns and contemporary elements.
Demographics: A diverse congregation of Hispanic and Caucasian members, with many retirees and young families.
Church strengths: Loving fellowship, prayer network, hospitality, and a strong desire for revitalization.

About the Position:
Community Presbyterian Church (CPC) in Clewiston, Florida, is prayerfully seeking a Pastor to shepherd our congregation, proclaim God’s Word faithfully, and equip the saints for ministry and mission. The Pastor will serve as the primary spiritual leader of CPC, preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, administering the sacraments, equipping leaders, and shepherding the congregation. This role will provide vision, leadership, and pastoral care, ensuring that the church continues to live out its calling to make disciples, serve the community, and glorify God in all things.
Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000 annually
Housing Allowance: $800 per month
Benefits: Full EPC benefits package, including retirement, medical, and life insurance. 4 weeks of vacation, study leave allowance, and travel reimbursement.

Responsibilities:
Preaching & Teaching
- Proclaim God’s Word faithfully each week through expository, Christ-centered preaching.
- Lead the congregation in worship that is rooted in Scripture and reflective of our Reformed theological heritage.
- Oversee discipleship through adult education, Bible studies, and small groups.
Shepherding & Care
- Serve as a shepherd to the congregation, providing pastoral counseling, visiting the sick, and ministering to those in need.
- Lead the church in prayer and cultivate a culture of intercession.
Leadership & Oversight
- Moderate and work closely with the Session, guiding the elders in spiritual and organizational leadership.
- Provide training and discipleship for elders and deacons, equipping them for effective ministry.
- Partner with church committees and ministry teams to strengthen fellowship, outreach, and service.
Community Engagement & Evangelism
- Represent CPC in the wider Clewiston community, building relationships with local leaders, churches, and organizations.
- Lead the church in evangelism and outreach, equipping members to share their faith.
- Participate in the local Ministerial Committee and broader ecumenical efforts.
Administration
- Oversee staff and volunteers, ensuring alignment with the mission and vision of the church.
- Provide pastoral input to church committees, personnel, and ministry operations.
- Ensure faithful stewardship of resources in partnership with the Session and Treasurer.
Qualifications:
- Ordained (or ordainable) in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with full alignment to the EPC’s Essentials of Our Faith and Book of Order.
- Seminary degree or equivalent theological education required.
- A mature, Spirit-led believer with a strong personal devotion to Christ and a life of prayer.
- Characterized by humility, empathy, integrity, and relational warmth.
- Demonstrated gifts in preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and leadership.
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills, with the ability to shepherd across generational and cultural lines.
- Experience in leading a congregation through revitalization or growth preferred.
