About the Position:

The Performing Arts Director oversees and leads the school’s performing arts program, including drama, music, and dance, in alignment with Christian values and the school’s mission. This individual will create, direct, and manage performances, mentor students, and collaborate with staff and parents to cultivate an inspiring and nurturing environment. The Performing Arts Director will model and encourage a Christ-centered approach to creative expression and collaboration. This teaching position will require one additional enrichment class based on class needs each school year.

Classification: Full-Time, Salary, 11-month employee

Salary: $60,000 – $63,000 annually

Responsibilities:

Program Development and Implementation

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive performing arts program that integrates music, drama, and movement, grounded in Christian values and curriculum standards.
  • Select and adapt plays, musicals, and other performances, ensuring content aligns with the school’s Christian ethos.
  • Oversee seasonal and annual events, including school concerts, plays, summer performing arts camp, and other performances.

Instruction and Mentorship

  • Teach performing arts classes and workshops, providing skill-based instruction in acting, vocal performance, choreography, and stagecraft.
  • Mentor students in developing their creative talents while instilling an understanding of performing arts as a means to express faith and Christian values.
  • Collaborate with other faculty to integrate performing arts within broader academic and spiritual programs.

Event Management and Production

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of school performances, including rehearsals, stage setup, lighting, costumes, and technical production.
  • Manage auditions, casting, and rehearsals, working to help each student find a role in which they can grow and excel.
  • Foster an environment of teamwork, professionalism, and respect among cast, crew, and volunteers.

Community and Parental Engagement

  • Serve as a liaison between the school and parents, informing them of performance schedules, rehearsals, and student progress.
  • Organize volunteer opportunities for parents and community members to support productions.
  • Work to increase community awareness and attendance at performances, strengthening the school’s presence in the arts.

Administrative Leadership

  • Develop and manage the performing arts budget, including materials, costumes, and technical equipment.
  • Coordinate with other departments on scheduling and facility needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide assessments.

  • Ensure the work environment is Christian-based, nurturing, wholesome, and loving.
  • Work with the administration and staff to address the spiritual formation needs of the students.
  • Follow Matthew 18 principles when dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Hold an ACSI certificate or be willing to participate in a program to complete the requirements for certification in a specified period.
  • Hold and maintain first aid and CPR certification.
  • Demonstrate technology skills in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
